Motion to Appear by Telephone

or Video Conference

An interested party in any case or proceeding may, upon reasonable advance notice, generally not less than 48 hours, file a motion requesting to appear by telephone or by video conference at a hearing.  

  • If a motion to appear by telephone is granted, the party will not be permitted to offer evidence or cross examine witnesses at the hearing.  

  • If a motion to appear by video conference is granted, counsel must make arrangements with the court to secured video conference service and to test the video conference service in advance of the hearing from the remote site. 

Filing Requirements:

  • Motion to Appear by Telephone or Video Conference.

  • No order necessary.


To File Electronically:

  1. Log into CM/ECF.

  2. Select [Bankruptcy >  Motions/Applications or Misc/Other].

  3. Enter the case number (e.g, xx-xxxxx).

  4. Select [Appear by Telephone or Video Conference] from the event list.

  5. Skip the Joint Filing screen.

  6. Select the party filer. If the party is not listed, click on Add/Create New Party.

    Note:  The Attorney/Party Association screen may appear. If your party selection is correct, check the box to create an association.

  7. Browse to select the Motion (.PDF file).

  8. Check Refer to Existing Events and select appropriate event.

  9. Select the type of appearance requested (telephone or video conference).

  10. Modify the text as appropriate.

  11. Verify the final docket text; if correct, click [Next] to submit your document(s).

    Note: The Notice of Electronic Filing displays giving you the document number. Copies of this notice are immediately e-mailed to all participants who receive electronic notification in the case.
