COURT EXPANDS USE OF COURT RECORDED AUDIO FOR ORDERS STATED ON THE RECORD

Friday, April 23, 2021

Notice to Attorneys:

Beginning Monday, May 3, 2021, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of North Dakota will file digital audio recordings of oral orders and rulings from the bench, allowing the public to access these recordings online through the Public Access to Court Electronic Records (PACER) system. Currently, the Court provides access to audio files in adversary proceeding hearings and trials. The Court will now provide access to recordings of orders entered in contested matters as well. The recordings may be accessed in our CM/ECF system within two business days after entry of the order.

The digital audio record is embedded as an MP3 file in the PDF document associated with the case docket entry in CM/ECF, indicating "PDF WITH ATTACHED AUDIO FILE" and the associated hearing date. The digital audio file is accessed from the CM/ECF docket report. PACER users will be charged $2.40 to download the PDF with the embedded digital audio file. Registered CM/ECF users who are attorneys of record in the case will receive one “free look” in the Notice of Electronic Filing.
