North Dakota Bankruptcy Court is pleased to announce the appointment of Sara Diaz as Clerk of Court, effective December 1, 2025. Ms. Diaz will begin transitioning into her duties on November 17 under the supervision of Clerk Kay Melquist until Ms. Melquist’s retirement in December. In her role as Clerk of Court, Ms. Diaz assumes responsibility for the supervision of day-to-day operations and administrative management of the Clerk’s Office.

Ms. Diaz brings with her nearly 20 years of bankruptcy experience, office management, and leadership skills. While an active partner and attorney with Bulie Diaz Law Office since 2018, she represented numerous debtors and other interested parties in bankruptcy litigation. She also served on the District of Minnesota Bankruptcy Practice Committee and the District of North Dakota Bankruptcy Rules Committee; participated as a panelist with continuing education seminars; and coordinated the North Dakota State Bar Association’s Bankruptcy Law Update. These engagements reflect her commitment to building a knowledgeable, service-oriented legal community and these values align with the Court’s mission of integrity and professionalism.
